Slave Trade
Sir Francis Drake was a very vicious warrior and privateer and was involved with slave trade. There was a attack by the Spanish fleet, San Juan de Ulua that started because Francis Drake and John Hawkins were on sailing to the West Indies. The Spanish attacked because they were scared the English would overtake in their highly profitable slave trading business.
This ended out with a war between Spain and England. In the war, England easily won in 1588 and became the dominant world power. Sir Francis Drake was second in command and helped England defeat the Spanish Armada. The Spanish called him “El draque” which means “the Dragon” |
